As a founding member of the Davis Phinney Foundation, she has chaired the foundation’s signature event, the Sunflower Revolution Gala and Ride, which has raised nearly one million dollars for Parkinson’s disease research and education and she is currently the event co-ordinator for the University of Cincinnati’s Gardner Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Sunflower Rev It Up for Parkinson’s  bike and run/walk event.

“ I consider myself a bike fitting practitioner, not a technician.  A fit technician knows how to operate technological fitting tools and set up riders within recommended parameters akin to “panty hose” sizing charts.  I incorporate technology to apply sound, science-backed principles of fitting to each individual rider, considering the rider’s goals, fitness level, range of motion and flexibility, history of injuries and experience level.  This means sometimes coloring outside the panty-hose chart’s lines. My goal is to create the best union of rider and bike so each ride is about fun, freedom and adventure.”

David Ariosa

Bike Fitting Specialist, Fifty West Cycling Operations

David Ariosa is a twenty-three-year veteran of the retail bike industry as owner of Oakley Cycles, (aka Fifty West Cycling) leaving the corporate world behind to follow his interest in cycling.  David elevated the custom bike business in the region to a new level, incorporating high-level fitting and high-touch custom outfitting, while catering to all levels of cyclists from beginners to seasoned enthusiasts.

David has a long history of giving back to the community: he was a founding member of the Davis Phinney foundation for Parkinson’s Disease, he served on the original planning committee for the inaugural Juvenile Diabetes Ride for the Cure in Death Valley, CA (now a national event raising millions each year), he supports the Sunflower Rev It Up for Parkinson’s ride/run/walk event each year, and serves as treasurer on the Wasson Way Board.

David’s attention to detail, love of all things mechanical, and penchant for leaving things better than he found them make him a sought-after mechanic. Customers have fun trying to stump him with phantom noises, creaks and phenomena that sometimes only occur after “50 miles or so” of riding!

David loves to ride and has participated in triathlons, century rides and competitive running events.  He holds certifications in Bike Fitting and Advanced Bike Fitting from the Serotta International Cycling Institute and has created a state of the art fitting space for Fifty West Cycling.

“I want to share my enjoyment of cycling by matching people with the right equipment for their aspirations, budgets and experience levels.  I enjoy choosing the best selection of bikes and products for all types of riders and keeping their equipment in perfect running condition.  Our new location on the Little Miami Scenic Trail opens the door to providing rental services and cycling experiences and events for the whole family!”
